Soul searcher

Surreal!
Across the sky-ocean
Found a glass-palace to live,
Did you?

And suddenly the strange-tangled
love-hate, hate-love
mud-stricken life-morsels
mean nothing?

You may have blood-emberd
the umbilical-cord; but
World-creator, you were for some
cherished-treasure
beyond that father-figure

We star-gazers,
search till celestial-end
If you’re a sky-jewel now
To watch us over

and mistletoes grow over us

*Blood-ember = axe

Tonight on Dversepoets Meeting the Bar prompt – Bjorn has us write kennings (It could be formed around a genitive or directly as a compound word in English we can use a hyphen, but in Nordic languages compound words are freely formed by writing them together). Here is my contribution, an ode to my uncle who left us a few weeks back. I wanted to write my words for him for some time. Hope you like it.

  1. blood-emberd
the umbilical-cord…ha…love that run there abhra…that whole stanza has this tight energy that is really cool…the mistletoe line is a cool one too because its almost a look away there in the end

  2. Oh, it would be wonderful to think that he would be a sky-jewel now. It is nice to think perhaps of the stars in the sky as such sky-jewels of those who have left us. Fine use of kennings, Abhra!

  3. Congrats on a fine utilization of both Bjorn’s kennings & your own profound love-grieving; a terrific use of the prompt; emotional, expansive, hopeful; like the lines /mud-stricken life-morsels/mean nothing now.

  4. Great ode to your uncle… and this

    “You may have blood-emberd
    the umbilical-cord; but
    World-creator, you were for some
    cherished-treasure
beyond that father-figure” man, that is so powerful… gotta say they was my favorite..

  5. A heart-felt and loving tribute. Also, the ending brings forth an image of deep ache, of stagnation, for me…
Some beautiful pairings… sky-jewel perhaps is my favorite one. 🙂

  6. GOD does always seem to be in a bud..and while i hope it does not sound vulgar..a young man told me a few days ago..GOD live in his testicles..

I suppose he had a seed of knowledge..in that statement..

    2..
but certainly not as elegant as your words and photo here..to lighten up the equinox and coming spring!

I would like to know what you think about this :
