I crave the excitement of first touch
After a very long wait,
Then quiver from the excitement of closeness
As craving takes over,
And you can feel my breathing
Or I see my fingers digging into you.
Oh! I have been holding them back
For so long; but not anymore
Now that you’re here
They reign free.
Is that music we hear?
Like lullaby-
Is that us composing new notes?
I don’t know and I don’t care
We are together now,
Pour like rain on me,
Drench me all over,
Door to my soul is wide open
Oh! I can play all along.
Anticipation of darkness
Or shiver for thrill
Won’t stop me
From reaching the climax;
We were destined to meet-
You flared up my passion
We’ll only fuse into togetherness,
And once exhausted
Delve into silence
For redemption.
Like aftermath,
We’ll stay with one another,
With a warm feeling,
You and I
Can make our own world,
A world, where we can stall the time
Then again you are not just a book
Or I, a reader, for that matter;
Are we?
Today we have a unique theme. Conceit is a figure of speech in which two seemingly dissimilar objects are grouped together with the help of similes or metaphors. Conceit develops a comparison which is unlikely but is, nonetheless, intellectually imaginative. A comparison turns into a conceit when the writer tries to convince us a similarity between two things of whose unlikeness we are strongly aware of and, for this reason, conceits are often surprising.’
ah it would be nice to stall time…i like the use of rain in this…them drenching you…that is a cool kinda love eh? smiles. and huddling together after the storm is not a bad thing either…
it’s cool that is was about a book too…my initial thought is you were with someone special…but then again a book is…smiles.
Smiles, thank you. Yes, I tried to associate all the elements I could think of. Once I finish reading a book, I feel like holding on to it.
beautifully worded. like the way you ended it.
Thank you so much – yes, it was an intended effect.
Superb!
😀 Thanks!
haha…you know…i was thinking something else first…oy…. love me a good book… it’s like a love affair…isn’t it…a serious passionate love affair… smiles…enjoyed this..
He he, yes it is like a love affair..a very passionate one albeit!
Brilliant use of conceit. You didn’t give it away until the last few lines. And the second paragraph is too good 🙂
Smiles, I am glad that you think so.
Hahaha, that’s an intense passion for reading, bibliophilic for certain. Great conceit!
Hi Anna – I am a fan of your writing. These words from you sounds greatly inspiring.
Oh that intense passion I have for a few books that I would like to dive into .. through darkness… those nights of reading… perfect.
Smiles, thanks a lot – yes, we all have some special books like that.
Beautifully written…

Thank you Kiran, I am honored!
Ah, that’s my passion, too. I often read on Kindle now but it just isn’t quite the same. Nice extended metaphor.
Yes, I read a lot on e-reader as well, but there is nothing like an good old book. I’ll always love that effect.
beautiful!!!
Thank you Swathi.
